My New Years Eve....

Didn't quite turn out like I'd like it. My Grandma passed away. She was in her 90's and celebrated a long and happy life, but even so, I'd like her to still be here with me. She was such a special woman and loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids more than anything. So, I'd like to dedicate this post to her. May she be at peace and know that we are all here waiting to be reunited with her one day. There will not be a day that goes by that we do not think of you and miss you. You were a beautiful person. I love and miss you.

This is my cousin Kara,my husband Joe, me, Grandpa(back), my Grandma next to me, Uncle Bruce in front with his daughter Sarah. and in the back is my handsome Daddy. I miss him every single day. Wish he were here to enjoy his grandsons! He'd be so proud!

Aiden, Grandpa and Lucas. New Years Eve.

I think in times like this, it's the kids that make you realize that life goes on. We must pick ourselves up and live our lives even if someone we love has passed on. Aiden and Justin, my cousin Kara's son. My little boy makes me a stronger woman!

This was the first time we have even taken Aiden to a funeral. I was a little nervous about it. I didn't want it to be frightening to him but at the same time, wanted him to be there w/my family. He did amazingly well, I thought. When we got to the funeral home, he did ask where Grandma was. :( It broke my heart. Then on the way to the graveyard,as the police officer was escorting everyone, he got excited. He asked why the cop was doing and why was his lights on. So we explained that they often lead the funeral line so other cars realize that a funeral is is progress. He then wanted to know if the cop was leading us to Heaven. That about did it for me that day. My heart was shattered. He gives me strength to move on and to thank God for my healthy family every single day. Do not take each other for granted and make sure you tell every one that you love them. Life is too short. I think of all the things my Grandma had witnessed throughout her life. She's lived in a time when tv's were black and white, where there were no such thing as cell phones and computers. She's lived through wars, seen our 1st black president elected, had four sons, and got to see her GRANDKIDS have babies. Some of us will never get to do the things she's done. Some of us will be LUCKY to live to be in our 70's. I can only hope that God allows me to live a long happy and healthy life like she did!
